For asset managers, selecting a partner to take on middle- and back-office infrastructure is a critical decision that should be based on rigorous evaluation to help ensure a scalable, long-term partnership.

In our latest article, Bryan Astheimer, SEI’s Head of Investment Services EMEA, outlines four key qualities asset managers should seek in their service partner.

Stability is the foundation of an excellent service provider. That stability should include financial strength, long-tenured staff, and a cohesive technology platform.

Expertise is crucial. Asset managers should evaluate providers to ensure they have the skills and experience to deliver services for the current business and the ability to continue providing services as the fund operation grows in scale and sophistication.

Assessing service location is key. It involves balancing cost effectiveness with service quality, access to experts, and operational capability across time zones.

Finally, asset managers should seek fully independent references from existing clients of a potential service provider. Having trust and confidence in the capabilities of your service provider is essential, and nothing will put that to the test more than hearing from other companies like your own.
