Our Corporate Marketing and Communications team was awarded Platinum, the top recognition, by the 2019 Hermes Creative Awards for our 50th anniversary global campaign.
The Hermes Creative Awards is an international competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional and emerging media. Hermes Creative Awards recognizes outstanding work in the industry while promoting the philanthropic nature of marketing and communication professionals.
In 2018, we launched a year-long, global campaign to celebrate with our employees and clients the last five decades of innovation and success. Most important, we wanted to let them know just how much they’re appreciated and valued.
Below features photos and details from the year-long initiative.
50th Anniversary Global Campaign
On Jan. 2, 2018, employees around the globe were greeted by giant outdoor banners, window clings, banner stands, floor graphics and balloons. A box of delicious chocolates waited at each employee’s desk, along with a note from CEO Al West that welcomed all to our 50th year in the new year.
Our 50-year logo was incorporated into specially designed collateral throughout the year. From table tents and pillows to conference videos and tree ornaments, we marked this historic year wherever possible.
Oaks History Hallway
We transformed the main art gallery hallway in Oaks into a living, breathing interactive exhibit of our heritage, innovation and growth in the financial services industry. The experience takes employees, clients, investors and the community on a visual journey of our evolution over the past half-century.
London History Hallway
The historical timeline in our London office features company milestones, artifacts and press clippings that help illustrate our story. While the floor focuses on key points in company history, the wall highlights world and pop culture moments that provide points of reference for visitors.
We invited our local employees and their families to a picnic in September to celebrate our anniversary. More than 4,000 guests of all ages enjoyed the food and fun from over 60 vendors and partners. The action-packed event included food trucks, local breweries and distilleries, a petting zoo, pumpkin painting, great music and a visit from the Philadelphia Mummers.
In the news
Chairman and CEO Al West sat down in London with the Financial Times in October to reflect on our global growth-especially in the U.K. market. A profile of our fearless leader ran in the Nov. 26 edition and featured a beautiful artist sketch of Al.
In November, we delivered cupcakes to more than 1,400 clients around the world as a token of our gratitude. The sweet treats were accompanied by a note from our CEO, thanking our clients for their partnership. The cupcake deliveries featured “The SEI,” an original, orange-themed creation to celebrate the golden anniversary.
Former Philadelphia Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos visited our Oaks campus, wowing us with his magic and inspiring us with his life’s story. ESPN was on site filming, and footage featuring the event was included in the final mini-documentary. On our official 50-year anniversary, Nov. 18, 2018, the special aired on ESPN’s “Sunday NFL Countdown.”
Hear ye, hear ye! Community leaders, including Governor Tom Wolf and Mayor Jim Kenney, recognized our 50-year heritage of civic commitment and economic impact.
Global happy hours
Our global offices got in on the celebratory action, too. London, Dublin, and Toronto wished SEI a happy 50th with extra-special happy hours in October and November. The London office hosted a lively, interactive reception with experiential drinks. Dubliners enjoyed a night out, and Toronto went on a food tour of the city.
NASDAQ opening bell
On Nov. 19, 2018, our executive management team and board members rang in our 50th anniversary with the NASDAQ opening bell.
NASDAQ tower ad
Chairman and CEO Al West's remarks were broadcast just minutes before the markets opened, and a dynamic ad designed by our in-house creative team was proudly featured on the NASDAQ tower in Times Square.
