As a Ph.D. candidate at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Marissa studies psychological and social forces that drive employees to feel and do their best at work. Her research concentrates on two streams: employee well-being (e.g., burnout, workaholism, perfectionism) and social motivation (e.g., motivation contagion between colleagues). Her research investigates fundamental questions about the conditions that enable employees to work not only harder, but also smarter and healthier. Previously, Marissa was an associate partner at McKinsey & Company, where she spent several years serving financial services clients on a wide range of topics.
