The biggest significant shift in pensions over the last generation has a direct impact on DC pension scheme members.

Whilst employers are legally required to have a workplace pension, the primary responsibility to save for a comfortable retirement has now been placed squarely on your employees.

As we have seen in the dramatic growth in financial websites and online investing, some welcome the opportunity to explore the investment landscape on their own, taking as keen an interest in shaping their plans for retirement as they do with their banking, savings and insurance needs. We provide those members with a broad range of options to choose from and continually monitor and update those options to ensure even members who prefer to choose their own investments can still benefit from our investment expertise and resources.

But guiding your own retirement is certainly not for everyone. By far the majority of members do not have the skills or knowledge—let alone time—to dedicate to making and monitoring investment decisions. These members can take comfort that they will benefit from the highly skilled investment team working on their behalf, all of whom are overseen by the Trustee who is working solely in their best interests.

The SEI Master Trust offers a real choice for members who want more personal control and a helping hand.

Select your own investment path

Those who want to can access a deeper range of managers and asset classes off-limits to most DC pensions.

With us, they are also able to make informed decisions on this expanded investment horizon because our research professionals identify and analyse the latest in investment practice on behalf of our members.

From active to passive fund strategies, our framework offers real investment choice while managing both volatility and risk in line with the retirement objectives for members.

We’ll invest for you

Choosing your own investments and guiding your own retirement is simply not a practical option for most of us. We will need help either at certain stages, or even throughout the journey up to and into our retirement. So we design something that will work for the majority of members and we constantly fine tune this in line with research and innovations. Often unhelpfully labelled as a ‘default’ option, what this means in practice is that our investment specialists take the wheel on behalf of members who want us to do so.

Drawing on SEI’s half-century plus in business, we design default strategies to suit members as they move towards retirement. This means we can free them from the burden of selecting funds across a range of asset classes.

At the same time, we will always seek to achieve a portfolio in line with your member’s needs at each particular stage of their saving timeline. For example, this can mean investing in higher-growth assets at the outset, before switching to less risky holdings as retirement nears, to protect those gains.

There is no one-size-fits-all and our approach reflects both our investment knowledge and the level of risk with which your members are comfortable.
