Innovation has been central to our culture since 1968

1968

Our first Trust Aid logo in 1968Alfred P. West, Jr. forms Simulated Environments Inc. and develops the first computer-based commercial credit simulator to train bank loan officers.

1972

We are one of the first companies to adopt a recurring revenue business model, which is new to the industry.

We develop TRUST-AID©, the industry's first real-time, online trust accounting system. Clients access the system through remote computing technology (essentially this is our own private cloud).

1983

We launch TRUST 3000®, a mainframe-based trust accounting system with power and flexibility to process transactions for banks of all types and sizes.

Our integrated portfolio management system in 19861985

We deliver an integrated portfolio management system with trust and investment processing, a key step in integrating the front office with the back office.

1986

SEI's Gil Beebower co-authors "The Determinants of Portfolio Performance," a groundbreaking study that completely changes the way people think about investing, and establishes the importance of asset allocation in determining investment performance.

We create a turnkey asset management platform (TAMP) for independent advisors.

1995

We reinvent the institutional asset management business and position ourselves as a manager of managers, combining the role of money manager, trustee, custodian and consultant.

We move our corporate headquarters to Oaks, marking the culmination of a company-wide reinvention that Al West began in 1990.

1998

We begin to offer investment operations services to alternative investment managers. As we service additional asset classes, this innovative approach is positioned as Total Operational Outsourcing.

2003

We help pioneer goals-based investing, a groundbreaking investment philosophy that becomes the strategic foundation for many of our investment management solutions and services.

2004

We launch the award-winning SEI Discovery Board, developed by SEI Private Wealth Management as a tool to facilitate a truly unique discovery and client engagement process.

Our Investor Dashboard, developed in 20042005

We launch the Investor Dashboard, which allows investment managers to view their positions across their entire book of business.

2007

The SEI Wealth PlatformSM launches in the U.K. market.

2010

We introduce dynamic asset allocation investment strategies, enabling investors to take advantage of short-term capital market opportunities without altering their longer-term strategic allocation.

2016

We partner with Drexel University to conduct usability testing on the SEI Wealth PlatformSM user interface, using data to ultimately provide a better end-client experience.

Inside our IdeaFarm, created in 20172017

We launch SEI Trade, a cloud-based solution for automating the paperwork-intensive process of handling, documenting and tracking investors’ private fund transactions.

2017

The IdeaFarm opens a centuries-old farmhouse renovated into an innovation space.

2017

We launch Codify, the first London-based incubator designed solely for financial regulation technology developers.

2018

We announce a relationship with Synechron to explore blockchain technology implementation. We establish the SEI Blockchain Center of Excellence.
