2025 Citizens Bank Park mural: Artist profile
SEI and the Phillies invited local artists to submit mural concepts that that bring to life the theme of “Connecting Communities,” highlighting the Philadelphia region’s unique culture, bold spirit, and the importance of bringing together communities with purpose. With the support of Mural Arts Philadelphia, we carefully reviewed submissions, rating them on aesthetic value, originality, technical skill, interpretation, and thematic consistency.
Lindsay Archer’s City of Brotherly Love received the grand prize and is boldly featured in left-center field above Ashburn Alley at Citizens Bank Park during the 2025 Major League Baseball season.
Lindsay grew up in Montgomery County in PA, where her enthusiasm for art blossomed early on. Her passion for creativity and various artistic disciplines led her to Temple University, where she studied Graphic and Interactive Design at Tyler School of Art. It was during her time at Temple that Lindsay truly found her artistic voice and fell in love with the city of Philadelphia.
As a lifelong, passionate Philly sports fan, Lindsay’s love for the city’s culture and energy continues to influence her work. Lindsay is a professional graphic designer at a publishing company, where she is able to bring her ideas to life in a collaborative environment, designing books, and more. In her free time, she continues to exercise her creative skills through both commissioned and personal projects, which she shares on social media.
“Connecting Communities” to me stands for Philadelphia as a whole. What are the unique buildings we recognize and see daily while living there? Why do they stand out so much to our city? I love how rich our history is in Philadelphia, so I truly wanted to focus on the architecture which connects our communities together in the center, more popular areas in the city, as well as Citizens Bank Park (of course!).
Among the buildings, we see the growing vines with flowers blooming on the ends, which represents the beauty we see throughout ALL our communities and how they can all be tied together as one family.
The text at the top, “City of Brotherly Love,” is a very common phrase in our city and its surrounding areas. The Greek word “Philadelphia” means “City of Brotherly Love” when translated to English, so I figured it would be a great way to showcase my design.
Scattered throughout the entire design, you will find various baseball attributes, like a baseball player about to hit a ball instead of William Penn on top of City Hall and a home run hit out of the park to replace the “O” in “love” in the title.
